Mischief of the Mistletoe, by Lauren Willig
This is the 8th in the Pink Carnation series, though it falls somewhere in between chronologically. These books are bits of fluff, so it was a little silly of Willig to imagine that one might remember how a particular scene was played out or perceived in an earlier book. Or even who the repeat characters might be. Thoughtfully, she provides a long appendix to remind the reader. The thesis seems to be that there's someone for everyone, even Turnip Fitzhugh, who gets a lot more brains and heart here than ever previously. I can't say why I don't like introducing Jane Austen as a character, but I don't.
