I wasn't much of a fan of the Mickey Haller books, but Connelly has created a Haller/Bosch hybrid that works. Haller tells his story of the retrial of a child killer in the first person, while Bosch's investigation into the 20 year old murder is told in the third. Haller's first ex-wife, ADA Maggie McFierce, plays a significant role in the book, though mostly women and children are hustled off to safety. The abrubt ending wasn't satisfying, but all in all it was quite compulsive reading.
