This Body of Death, by Elizabeth George

This is a very long book, and parts of it are hard to read.  So many stories at play: the abduction, torture and murder of a toddler by three boys; the murder of a lost and needy woman in a graveyard and all the people who stumbled upon her body or who want to find her killer; a treasure trove; much looking for love in all the wrong places; psychics; agisters; alcoholism; media and politics; and many other threads.  Every thread is a perfect strand -- but did there have to be so many?  John Lee is a stunning reader.
