This is the second collaboration between Jennifer Crusie, the Romance writer, and Bob Mayer, the former Green Beret, and their writing partnership is getting more seamless with each outing. It's not like they invented the comedic/romantic/thriller, but they do a decent job at the genre. Agnes (columnist, list maker, cook) has blind rages, Shane (government hitman) is very calm and efficient. Good sick bed reading.
