Dead in the Family, by Charlaine Harris

This was the funniest book in the Sookie Stackhouse series in a long while. Sookie was in recovery mode after the carnage of the last book, but there were a few new nemeses of both vampire and fairy persuasions: Eric's Roman maker, Appius Livius Ocella, and his latest progeny, Alexei Romanov, and Claudine's vengeful fairy mate. Old friends and enemies made appearances, Sookie's brother, Jason, and gifted cousin, Hunter; fairy kin Dermot and Claude; vampire leads Eric, Pam, and Bill and the wicked Victor; shifter, Sam; and the local werewolf pack lead by Alcide. Lots of ground was set for the next book, which should include a wedding, Victor's comeuppance, the politics of dual nature registration reaching a climax, and likely more insider fairy dirt. Can't wait.
