The Vanessa/Michael Munroe series is outstanding -- smart, gritty, and thrilling. This isn't the book to begin the series with, however, as it pretty much demands a knowledge of Munroe's backstory. Munroe is abducted off the streets of Dallas and coerced into delivering a young minor celebrity to a horrific future. Failing to do so precisely as ordered could cost the life of anyone she holds dear. As Bradshaw seeks to loosen her shackles in the US, Munroe employs all of her ill-gotten skills.
