Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, by Darynda Jones
Even though there are some powerful beings ready and willing to protect her from all threats, Charley, the Grim Reaper, is afraid for the first time in her life. Being tortured by Earl Walker in book three has left its mark on her, and book four begins after two months of an agoraphobic home shopping network/hoarding spree. When she finally emerges from seclusion, Charley gets involved in the cases of a young woman who has been tormented since early childhood; the gentleman thieves, who rob banks; and an arsonist. And naturally there are demons, who want to lick the fear off her skin. Creepy. And family looking to help. And friends ditto. Pretty entertaining all in all.
