Star Island, by Carl Hiaasen

It's a book about young celebrities and their hangers-on, and the industries that feed off their marketable qualities and make plans to exploit their predestined early demises.  The main characters are Cherry Pye (the party-girl singer/lip sync-er whose career is tanking), her parents, publicists, producer, actor boyfriend, and  secret double, Annie; Claude Abbot, the paparazzo who is obsessed with Cherry; and the off-his-rocker former governor of Florida.  Dark, raunchy, cynical, sometimes funny.
