Shortcut Man, by P. G. Sturges

It's rare in my experience for a second book in a series to be better than the first, but I found Tribulations of the Shortcut Man funnier, less cynical, less choppy in its plotting, more cohesive, and for all these reasons more likeable than Shortcut Man.  Dick Henry seems less of a fixer than a thug here.  He is hired to find out if the wife of a pornography mogul is having an affair.
