A book to savor. PI Ray Lovell is hired to locate Rose Wood by her father, seven years after her disappearance. Rose is a Gypsy, married to a Gypsy, and Mr. Wood knows that only another Gypsy will have any chance of cracking the secrets of Rose's disappearance. The story is told from the perspectives of Ray, while he recovers from a poisoning that has left him temporarily paralyzed; Ray, while he seeks information about Rose and her family; and JJ, the teenage nephew of Rose's husband, Ivo, and cousin to Christo, who suffers from a crippling genetic condition which is posited as the reason that Rose ran away. JJ is a funny kid, full of empathy and heart.
