Killing Kate, by Julie Kramer

A very entertaining book set in a TV newsroom.  Reporter Riley Spartz is a great character, smart, strong, self-confident, a bit of a maverick; the newsroom dynamics are fun and fast; giving the killer a voice and perspective brings a multidimensionality to the narrative.  Riley is focused on the murderer of her college friend's sister, discovering a link to other murders in other states. The responsibility of the media for the aftermath of its coverage is considered in an extreme way.
