A Question of Despair, by Maureen Carter

This new series has some interesting characters and relationship dynamics.  The two main characters are Detective Inspector Sarah Quinn (the Ice Queen) and Caroline King, a ruthless TV news reporter.  The two have had personal issues since Sarah discovered that Caroline was using Sarah's own lover as a source and stud-muffin.  This is probably the first book I've read where it is implied that relations between police and press should be mutually beneficial.  There's a bit of humor and the plotting sustained my interest.  The mystery involves two missing and ultimately dead babies.  Not my favorite theme.
