Dead Renegade, by Victoria Houston

There's something sweet and wholesome about the Loon Lake mysteries inspite of the occasional decapitation. I'm sorry that she's not going anywhere with the characters; Doc Osborne continues to pine for Chief of Police Lew Ferris, who seems to see him as a convenient role in the hay, and Ray Pradt continues to charm the universe. Though he's been a widower for two years, more space is given to Doc Osborne's empty marriage than to his ongoing relationships with his daughters. He's a better fly fisherman now. I guess time has stopped in Loon Lake. This is the 10th mystery in the series and each seems to have taken place in the 2nd year after Mary Lee's death. The books are short and easy, perfect vacation reading especially if you have even the slightest interest in fishing.
