I could be mistaken, but I think you're better off reading
A Bad Day for Sorry before you read this one. Stella Hardesty isn't a character who spends a lot of time bringing you up to speed. By day Stella runs a sewing machine repair shop, but on the side, she kidnaps, tortures, and brutalizes men who are seem otherwise disinclined to stop beating their wives. She doesn't actually engage in any of these activities in
Pretty. She has a dangerous and reciprocated crush on the local sheriff, Goat Jones. Their romance is spiked by their differing approaches to justice, and in
Bad Day for Pretty, by his ex-wife, Brandy. The books are funny, have some lovable characters and imperfect relationships, may have potentially too much religion for some, and
Pretty has an interesting mystery. I'm not saying that
Sorry doesn't, just that I can't recall.
