The Missing Place, by Sophie Littlefield

Two mothers, as different as they can be, come to the rough and tumble oil fields of North Dakota in search of their missing sons and form an uneasy alliance against the many people who would like them to go away. My judgement of the book was harsh immediately after finishing it, but my long term recollection of it is more positive.
