Midnight Crossroad, by Charlaine Harris
There's something wonderful about Charlaine Harris opening up a new series. She introduces characters in a way that gives you enough to care about, yet keeps plenty of secrets in reserve. This the first book in a trilogy about Midnight, Texas, features Fiji (a witch), Manfred (a pyschic and newcomer to Midnight), Bobo (a kind and lovely man and owner of Midnight Pawn), Lemuel (a vampire), Olivia (a lethal who knows what), Joe and Chui (who own the Antiques Gallery and Nail Salon), the reclusive Rev, and Madonna and Teacher Reed (who are suspiciously normal). Very enjoyable.
