Dead to Me, by Cath Staincliffe
I loved each and every Sal Kilkenny mystery, but this new series is pretty appealing for the same reasons. Janet Scott, long married with two kids, is a seasoned member of the Manchester murder squad. She is reluctantly partnered with the loose cannon, Rachel Bailey, who has more than a little trouble taking orders and keeping her mouth shut and her feelings off her face. They both work for Gill Murray, who sees potential in Bailey that she thinks Scott can help hone and harness. They are all interesting women. There is a British TV show that picks up the Scott and Bailey partnership a little later.
