No Safe Ground, by Julia Pomeroy

I like Pomeroy's writing, characters, pacing, and levels of suspense and humor, but I found the story largely unbelievable. Pack is a veteran and limo driver; his cousin Mitch/Millie is a gruff, tough, and transgendered ex-cop; and his daughter, Vida, is an AWOL soldier trying to investigate the murder of her roommate and evade a killer.

  1. This is the first book by Pomeroy I've read, and I did enjoy meeting Pack, Millie and Vida. I'd want them at my back! But I agree that the story was a bit unbelievable. I mean, I know that people can have extraordinary strength and endurance in special, emotional situations, but really, these characters were like human energizer bunnies. I'd read more of her work if I saw it on the shelves.
