The Last Werewolf, by Glen Duncan

I liked the first part of this book very much.  The paranormal universe created by Duncan is fresh, inventive, funny, and touching.  Jake Marlow, the last werewolf, and Harley, his human aide-de-camp, are a great pair as Jake prepares to allow his world-weary self to be executed by World Organization for the Control of Occult Phenomena (WOCOP) and Harley tries to convince him to go on living (and killing and eating people).  The testy relationship between vampires and werewolves cracked me up.
