The Lover's Knot, by Clare O'Donahue

The Lover's Knot is the first in the Someday Quilts series featuring Nell Fitzgerald. After her fiancé calls off the wedding, Nell escapes to her grandmother who owns the quilt shop in Archer's Rest. Her grandmother's handyman is murdered, and Nell's now ex-fiancé is a really good suspect. Nell gets into trouble with the local law trying to clear him. The first glimmerings of how really good O'Donohue will become are here in the gentle humor, well-pitched dialog and logical plotting. All the quilting talk and old-lady wisdom get a little tiresome, but it'll be fun to watch her evolve over the next few books.

  1. Oh, I totally agree! You can see that she's going to get better and better. She did a very nice job. And you know quilty me, I have to say that I was a little disappointed that the publishers didn't put a nice lover's knot patterned quilt on the cover. They showed a portion of the pattern beneath the title, but it doesn't show people what a nice block this is when pieced into a quilt. See http://julie-annsworld.blogspot.com/2011/01/lovers-knot-quilt-or-how-i-almost-lost.html and scroll down to the bottom of the blog. Niiiiice!
