The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party, by Alexander McCall Smith

This may not be the best of the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books, but there were things about it I quite liked:  Mma Ramotswe didn't find all the answers and had to be content with not knowing; Charlie showed his finer side; Mma Makutsi sacrificed the most beautiful shoes in the world for her friend and her preparations for her wedding included preparing mentally for a life that is not threaded through with want.  Two false steps:  Would Mma Ramotswe allow Mma Makutsi to be the one to approach Charlie about this responsibilities for his children and their mother?  After their history of antagonism? Would Mma Matkutsi not invite Mma Potokwani to her wedding, when she helped rescue Phuti Radiphuti from his aunt and took him in after his accident? In Botswana, where courtesy is paramount?  Don't think so.
