Dead Reckoning, by Charlaine Harris

As of today, 576 people have posted user reviews on Amazon of Dead Reckoning.  About the same number of people loved it as hated it, though the number who sort of hated it is bigger than the number who sort of loved it.  I guess it just proves that you can't please all of the people all the time.  In comparison to her last couple of Sookie Stackhouse books, this one is shorter and lighter in tone.  I find Sookie's take on the world, even at its grisliest, pretty funny.  This book provides backstory on Gran's relationship to the Finton, fairy humor, and Victor's wickedness, and sets up a number of new directions for future books, such as Eric's arranged marriage and the Cluviel Dor.  I'll go there with her, as long as Johanna Parker keeps reading.
