The Fat Man: A Tale of North Pole Noir, by Ken Harmon
I'm not sure whom Harmon wrote this book for. He's woven together into a pun-streaked tapestry the language, characters, situations and titles of every Christmas story, movie, tv show, song, and icon to create a mystery about unseen forces trying to kill both Santa Claus and the spirit of Christmas. There's quite a bit of philosophizing about the respective roles and value of justice and mercy, and the way Santa Claus creates a bridge for children to an understanding of the gifts of Christ. Quite a bit. And yet, there's double entendre raunchiness and violence, too. Luckily it was short, and Johnny Heller does good elf voices.
