This is the story of a brave but not too brave girl, Nieve. Nieve has magical powers that were previously unknown to her when her town is taken over by a grizzly Impress and her creepy minions. A strange 8-toed boy named Lias; Gran, who has powers of her own; and a couple of brave and cunning townsfolk who somehow avoided capture and transformation into furniture or chattel manage to turn the tide. Griggs writes with humor and her son's drawings are suitably creepy illustrations.
