Given Day came the series featuring PIs Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. Gritty, sometimes bleak, sometimes, like
Gone, Baby, Gone, heartrending, always with a touch of humor. Lehane's return to these characters was a joy. Here, Patrick is once again asked to find Amanda McCready, the little girl who a decade before had been kidnapped from her negligent drug addict mother and found a loving home with her kidnappers. Taking her from the kidnappers and returning her to a childhood of misery and neglect was a soul-bending act for Patrick, and finding her again might redeem him from being right.
