Inspector Singh Investigates: A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder, by Shamini Flint
On some levels, this book was disappointing, the characters paper thin and a little unbelievable, and the plot equally implausible. But I feel like I learned some true things about Kuala Lampur and Singapore and their inhabitants. The story: Detective Singh is sent to Kuala Lampur to protect the interests of Chelsea Liew, a once famous Singaporean model, now accused of murdering her abusive husband Alan Lee, a timber magnate. Even after her brother-in-law confesses to the murder and Chelsea is released, Detective Singh stays on to investigate and see that the real killer is brought to justice.
