Elizabeth Kelly is going to be a phenomenal writer. This book about Collie and Bingo Flanagan (both named for dogs), their loopy parents, grandfather and Uncle Tom, and the tragedies and traumas in their lives is very good. Her writing is solid, emotions read true, her humor is twisted -- maybe the story was painted in colors that were too bold, but when she adds a few pastels and earth tones to her pallette, Kelly will be extraordinary.
