Shoot to Thrill, by P. J. Tracy

I've loved P.J. Tracy since they published Monkeewrench in 2003. The mother/daughter team are wizards with horror, suspence, humor, and insight. Their characters aren't quite real, but still very entertaining. Each is ultra-competent and flawed to the same excessive degree. Like the other books in the Monkeewrench series, Shoot to Kill is made more horrifying by its plausibility. We have likely just begun to see the kinds of deviance the Internet will promulgate. Here murders are previewed online and videos of the killings are claims to fame. I liked the new characters: John Smith, the buttoned-down FBI suit, and Chelsea Thomas, the profiler with a name like a porn star (really?) and the way they interacted with the old ones. The ending will set us up somewhere quite different for book six.

Note to self: Read in print.
